It seems like most of us are struggling to find great employees, and the struggle is even more real with Gen Z workers.
Does it seem like the people who respond to your job ads are not what they used to be? It is not your imagination. Recent studies show that by their own admission, younger employees are lacking in many of the basic skills that allow them to be successful in the workplace.
A recent AP/NORC study showed that only 33% of Gen Z workers feel they are unable to come to work on time. 46% are unable to work within a team or complete tasks to a deadline. also, 47% are not prepared to work with customers. Remember this is their assessment of themselves, not their employers. Skills like negotiating, networking, and working long hours scored even worse in the survey.
This means that people who make good dispatcherss, who of course need all of those skills are going to be hard to find and harder to develop.
Whether you think this is due to COVID, or other causes, it looks like this issue is here to stay. If you would like to learn more about the study, you can read for yourself at the link below.
